Cruse Croydon has served the London Borough of Croydon for over 30 years. We are proud of the service we provide through our unpaid team of bereavement volunteers. Cruse Bereavement Care - our national body - is a non-religious organisation originally founded as a self-help group for widows in 1959. It is now open to all bereaved people. The name derives from a passage in the Old Testament about a widow who took care of the prophet Elijah, feeding him at a time of famine. He assured her that while she looked after him, her 'cruse', or jar of oil, would never run out, signifying that support would be given to her as long as it was needed.

Our service is confidential and free of charge, although as a charity all donations are very welcome.
